Sara Hines Martin
Freelance Writer
I’ve been writing professionally for 50 years--nonfiction, articles and books.
In 1985, I wrote Healing for Adult Children of Alcoholics, published by Broadman Press and brought out in paperback by Bantam Press. The book was a Broadman bestseller. I then wrote Shame on You! Help for Adults from Alcoholic and Other Shame-Bound Families, also published by Broadman. Those books are now out of print but can be ordered through interlibrary loan or from Amazon.com. My next book was Meeting Needs Through Support Groups published by Hope Press.
My next two books went into a different direction from the earlier ones. I wrote Walking Atlanta, a self-guided walking tour for Globe-Pequot Press. The next book that I wrote for them, More Than Petticoats: Remarkable Georgia Women, contains profiles of 13 women born before 1900 who made outstanding achievements. The women come from 3 races: black, white and Indian and each achieved in a different area. I believe every Georgian needs to read this book, that has been a Globe-Pequot bestseller.
I speak to groups wearing a Civil War era dress and showing the photographs of the women.

I’m currently working on a new book--Learning from Wolves--that contains stories showing how humans can learn from nature—plants and animals. |
